American Museum of Natural History

Treating collections at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum

Brooklyn Children’s Museum

  • Conservation treatment of more than 400 objects (decorative arts, ethnographic, and archaeological objects, natural science specimens) for the reopening and re-installation on the newly renovated and expanded museum. Consultation services on case environment, mount design, and pest remediation, 2007-2008.

Bedford Historical Society

  • General collection conservation assessment funded by Heritage Preservation CAP grant, 2006.
  • Provided consultation and conservation treatment services for almost 300 historical objects installed in the renovated museum displays. Consultation services included lighting and mount design, environmental monitoring and pest management, 2008.

Bruce Museum

  • Conservation treatment, 2012.

    Restoration of a fiberglass sculpture for the Canadian Consulate.

Canadian Consulate, New York

  • Conservation treatment of collection items including a First Nations wool wall hanging and a modern fiberglass artwork. Completed a lighting assessment and control project to provide a more suitable lighting environment for the textile wall hanging, 2005-20013.
  • Cleaning of three paintings in the consulate’s collection, 2011.
  • Reconstruction and restoration of a modern fiberglass sculpture, 2008.


Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum and Education Center

  • General collection conservation assessment funded by a Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation CAP grant, 2017.

Chubb Insurance

  • Provided conservation and restoration services for damaged artworks covered by Chubb Fine Arts insurance policies, 2012-2015.

Columbia University Libraries

  • Provided storage mount designs and protocols for an important collection of Chinese oracle bones, 2015.
  • Provided storage and mounting protocols for a collection of approximately 400 puppets, dolls, masks in the Library’s special collections. Trained and provided ongoing consultation for intern who conducted the work, 2007-08.

Dance Heritage Coalition

Puppet rehousing project, Columbia University

  • In conjunction with DHC performed comprehensive assessments of the Meredith Monk/The House Foundation and Mark Morris Dance Company archives in conjunction with DHC, 2013-2014.

Des Moines Art Center

  • Treated and mounted a six foot long taxidermy Monitor lizard, part of a modern art installation.

DIA: Beacon

  • Conservation Treatment of contemporary sculpture from the permanent collection, 2015

Glen Rock Arboretum

  • General collection conservation assessment and collection management training funded by Heritage Preservation CAP grant, 2006.

Greater Hudson Heritage Network

  • Taught a series of six webinars (four on environmental monitoring and two on storage and rehousing) as part of the Connecting to Collections Statewide Implementation Grant from the Institute for Museum and Library Services, 2014-2015.
  • Circuit Rider Mentor – conducted site visits for NY State institutions as part of GHHN’s Connecting to Collections Statewide Implementation Grant program, 2015-2016.
  • Assessor for the Conservation Needs Assessment Program, 2017.

Greater Society of Mayflower Descendants

  • Designed and implemented an environmental monitoring program for the Mayflower Society House, implemented improvements for reducing light damage and worked with engineering consultant to develop recommendations for improving conditions, 2012-2013.

    Training on safe cleaning techniques for Hurricane Sandy recovery.

  • General collection conservation assessment funded by Heritage Preservation CAP grant, 2010.

Irvington Historical Society

Preparing for treatment of Dead Sea Scroll fragments with Israel Antiquities Authority staff

  • Conducted an emergency conservation assessment and provided training on safe clean-up after Hurricane Sandy. Assessment funded by Heritage Preservation Emergency CAP grant 2012.

  • Conducted an assessment of internal environmental conditions, 2016-2017.

Maritime Industry Museum at Fort Schuyler

  • Developed and taught a short series of collections workshops on cleaning, rehousing, storage mounts, object labeling, and digitization for museum staff and interns, 2009.
  • General collection conservation assessment funded by Heritage Preservation CAP grant, 2006.

Merestead, Westchester County Parks

  • Conducted a condition assessment and provided recommendations for the collection on display in the historic mansion to advise the County on its proposed use as a venue for artist-in- residence programming, 2009.

Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre

  • Conducted an assessment of the Centre’s off-site storage facility and provided training for a collection’s technician to rehouse the collection, 2011.

    Steam cleaning of a baptismal font for the Corpus Christi Catholic Church.

  • Conducted an assessment of the Centre’s permanent exhibitions including recommendations for environment, lighting, mounting, pest management and prioritization of artifacts for treatment, 2010.

Museum Village, New York

  • General collection conservation assessment funded by a Foundation of the American Institute for Conservation CAP grant, 2017.

National Academy Museum, New York

  • Conducted a collection space assessment in conjunction with Samuel Anderson Architects Consulting, 2015

National Park Service, Roosevelt-Vanderbilt National Historic Site

  • Conserved items belonging to FDR’s dog Fala in preparation for exhibition, 2016.
  • In collaboration with Insects Limited, Ltd., constructed and installed a large scale nitrogen gas anoxic chamber for pest eradication treatment and trained staff on its safe and efficient use, 2017.

    Inpainting at Federal Hall National Memorial

National Park Service, Federal Hall National Monument

  • Conserved painted bronze finishes on the interior cast iron balcony and staircase. Work was done as a joint partnership with Craddock Painting Conservation, 2010-2011.

New York Transit Museum, Brooklyn

  • Conservation treatment for the exhibition Grand By Design: A Centennial Celebration of Grand Central Terminal, 2013.
  • Treatment of artifacts damaged in storage by Hurricane Sandy flooding, 2013.
  • Conservation treatment for the exhibition ElectriCity: Powering New York’s Rails, 2011.
  • Conservation treatment for the exhibition Where New York Began: Archaeology at the South Ferry Terminal, Spring 2010
  • Conservation treatment for the exhibition The Route Of The Dashing Commuter: The Long Island Rail Road At 175 exhibition, Spring 2009
  • Conservation treatment and mount consultation for select objects in Recent Acquisitions exhibit at the Grand Central Terminal Gallery Annex, July-November 2008.

Rubin Museum of Art

  • Provided training for the implementation of a new anoxia pest management system for oversize artifacts, 2013.
  • Conservation treatment of artifacts for display in the Tibetan Buddhist Shrine Room, 2013
  • Conservation treatment of artifacts for display in Bodies in Balance: The Art of Tibetan Medicine, 2013

Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian

Restoration of wood sculptures for St. John’s University.

  • Contracted to provide exhibition maintenance and environmental monitoring of permanent and temporary exhibition galleries at the George Gustav Heye Center facility, 2009.
  • Provided conservation services for two large bronze sculptures for the Fritz Scholder Indian/Not Indian exhibition, 2009-2010.

Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections (SPNHC)

  • Contracted to provide oversight and development of the new SPNHC wiki platform promoting best practices in natural sciences preservation, 2015-present.

South Street Seaport Museum

  • Advised on the creation and implementation of an integrated pest management program for this multi-site institution as part of a National Endowment for the Humanities grant, 2010.

St. Johns University

  • Conducted conservation and restoration treatments of several large-scale wood ecclesiastical figures, 2016.

State Museum of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission

  • Provided conservation treatment as part of a team of to renovate and restore 12 large dioramas in the museum’s Mammal Hall, 2016-2018.
  • Performed a comprehensive preservation assessment along with collection specific surveys for the museum and its storage facilities, 2012.

Studio Museum Harlem

  • Conservation treatment of artifacts in the permanent collection, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014.

Tenement Museum

  • Member of the Preservation Advisory Committee, overseeing work on the building and collections as part of an IMLS planning grant, 2012-2015.
  • Revised and updated the museum’s housekeeping plan, 2014

    Facing a linoleum “carpet” for the Lower East Side Tenement Museum.

  • Revised and updated the museum’s integrated pest management plan, 2013.
  • Treated a linoleum carpet in the museum building, 2013.

United States Consulate General – Jerusalem

Conserving outdoor postal mile marker.

  • Managed two projects for the conservation treatment of items on the Consulate’s Heritage Assets list, 2015.

  • Provided consultation and training services on the planning and implementation of an environmental monitoring program, 2009-2010.
